Sonja Lee is native to Washington State and relocated to Charlotte in 1999, to continue her career in the Finance Department of the American Red Cross. She received her Master of Arts in Christian Education degree from Union Presbyterian Seminary and is a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.
In July 2006, she founded the Lionel Lee Jr. Center for Wellness (LLCW) in memory of her brother Lionel, who died suddenly from a heart condition. LLCW provides assistance and programs to improve the health and wellness of those who are uninsured or underinsured, especially focusing on BIPOC and LGBTQ communities. Reverend Lee has over 30 years of non-profit expertise and is a dedicated advocate of change, utilizing her skills and gifts to improve the lives of those most in need.
As a certified Community Health Worker (CHW) and member of the NC Community Health Worker Association, Reverend Lee’s passion for service shines through her tireless efforts to improve the health and wellness of marginalized individuals in the community. Beyond healthcare, she advocates passionately for equity and fair treatment for all people.
