Magbis Love

Magbis Nuñez Love is a first-generation Venezuelan immigrant. She moved to Charlotte in 2001 and takes pride in her role as the mother of two daughters: Valerie and Megan. Currently, Valerie is a junior in college and Megan is a senior in high school.

Over the past 15 years, Magbis has been working in Atrium Health, advocating and empowering the Latin community to live a healthier lifestyle while preserving their culture. Beyond her healthcare role, she serves as the founder and director of the Alliance of Venezuelans in Charlotte and serves on the board of directors of Learning Help Centers of Charlotte.

Magbis considered herself “not tech savvy,” until COVID. During the pandemic, with everyone turning to life online, Magbis found unexpected technological proficiency, engaging online life, and feeling like Bill Gates. These years brought many lessons in unity and collaboration, fostering connections not only within the Latin community but also extending to collaborative efforts with other immigrant communities, including the Indian community.

“So I was down there at the front desk checking the temperature of all the employees, making sure they had their masks on, making sure everyone was prepared to prevent the pandemic from continuing to spread.”
