Jenny Zhan

Ning, also known as Jenny, originates from China and has been a stay-at-home mom in Charlotte, NC, since 2018. Residing with her husband and three adorable kids, they became homeowners in April 2020 amidst the pandemic’s peak.

Trained as an elementary school teacher, Ning immersed herself in preschool education during the pandemic to enhance her daughter’s life. The family faced challenges during recent years, like a miscarriage, concerns for family in China, and the passing of her husbands’ grandfather when restrictions finally eased. Despite these hardships, they created a pandemic pod, sharing childcare responsibilities and finding support and play space for their children.

As the founder of Chinese Storytime, initially hosted at Freedom Park and later relocated to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library at the South County Regional branch, she shifted to online sessions due to COVID. After restrictions were lifted and gatherings were acceptable, Chinese Storytime is now available on-site and in-person once again.
