Cal Ganda is a native of Zimbabwe and proud father of two. He migrated to the U.S. in 1998 to pursue his education in business at UNC- Pembroke. He is the head of Americas Automotive Aftermarket at ContiTech. And he is also the founder and CEO of Real African Art Gallery.
The gallery is unique in Charlotte for its focus on Zimbabwean artists. Cal, inspired by his mother’s legacy of community care, looked for a way to ease the economic suffering COVID was causing his countrymen. He worked through logistical and financial hurdles to open the gallery showcasing and supporting Zimbabwean artists and their families.
Real African Art Gallery, based in University City, features over 70 artists, emphasizing family and nature themes. Through this work he has improved the lives of numerous Zimbabwean and African artists who now have the opportunity and platform to exhibit and market their work in the United States.
“I also knew that if this worked, it will provide a lot of people with an opportunity to feed their families through their honest, hard work.”
