Bunny Gregory

Bunny” Michelle Gregory, a Charlotte-born artist, embraced her artistic identity at 52. She is a mother of two, but raised eight and now cherishes 26 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Passionate about the Charlotte art community, her creations often reflect social injustices, both historical and contemporary.

When the pandemic struck, Bunny seized the opportunity to fully immerse herself in art, leaving her role as an original sign artist at Midtown Trader Joe’s. Amid uncertainty, she purchased a school bus, transforming it into a mobile art studio for underserved communities, exemplifying her commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.

Now a tenant at the VAPA Center, Charlotte’s first Visual and Performance Art center, and co-owner of Mural Ninjas alongside her longtime best friend Myloan Dinh, Bunny’s life is a testament to resilience and creativity. Her journey highlights the transformative power of art in navigating life’s uncertainties.

“It was sad because, knowing all this stuff, all the things, kids with no food. Teenagers wanting to go to college and couldn’t afford it. People losing their jobs, small businesses shutting down. And we’re fighting about the handles on the bag.”
