The Archive is a collaboration among four trusted institutions. Our four founding partners are the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, Johnson C. Smith University, and the Levine Museum of the New South. Each partner brings its expertise and network to the work we are doing. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is acting as convener and project home.

Collaboration is vital to The Living Archives project, and the success in collecting over 350 stories. In addition to enabling the project to find and preserve stories, working with local organizations has developed deeper connections among institutions throughout our community.

Partnerships with local organizations have allowed for a deeper representation of story tellers and experiences. Contributing partners have shared knowledge, community connections, and commitment that has enriched the project, ensuring that the project captures and preserves a diverse range of stories that reflect the depth and breadth of experiences during this challenging pandemic season.

The Living Archives project is honored and incredibly grateful to all the organizations around Charlotte Mecklenburg County who supported the project and community in many ways. A special thank you to all contributing partners. Together, a meaningful record was created that will contribute to a richer understanding of how COVID impacted our community.
